Climate change is impacting people across Manitoba, with increases in extreme weather, flooding, droughts and wildfires having an impact on our health, our communities and our natural environment.
The Manitoba government has committed to reaching net-zero by 2050 to mitigate the impacts of climate change and is developing a roadmap to meet this goal.
Reaching net-zero will require action from all levels of government, industry, businesses, communities and individuals. Manitoba’s roadmap plan will:
Steadily reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to national and international climate targets;
Identify steps to reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas emissions throughout Manitoba;
Identify new opportunities to address climate change through government and working with businesses; and
Guarantee Manitoba’s competitiveness in the low-carbon economy.
