The bridge over the Red River on PR 305 (Louis Riel Bridge) in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba, was constructed in 1959. PR 305 at this location is a vital east-west link over the Red River connecting businesses and agricultural land to PTH 75. The bridge requires action to maintain serviceability over the next 40 years. A preliminary design study was initiated to develop and investigate alternatives.
Purpose
The purpose of this preliminary design study is to develop and evaluate bridge rehabilitation alternatives. Following this investigation, a preferred alternative will be identified based on socio-economic (public impact) factors, regulatory approvals and technical factors including initial costs, life cycle costs and design constraints.
The goal of the design is to maintain a safe long term crossing while also balancing the interests of the stakeholders in the area.
Spring 2021 Public Engagement
We are now asking the public for feedback on the two alternatives.
View the public engagement presentation below. The presentation provides an overview of the two alternatives as well as traffic management strategies during construction.
