A safety audit on the Perimeter Highway (both PTH 100 and PTH 101) was completed in 2018 to enhance traffic safety, reduce collisions, and save lives. As a result of that audit, Manitoba Infrastructure started making safety improvements to the Perimeter Highway, beginning with Phase 1 on the South Perimeter Highway (PTH 100). With safety improvements on PTH 100 nearly complete, the Manitoba government is looking to make similar safety improvements to the North Perimeter Highway (PTH 101) in Phase 2 of the Perimeter Safety Review.
Spring 2021 Engagement
We are now asking the public for input on the proposed safety improvements for PTH 101. Please review the public engagement presentation below. The presentation will discuss why safety improvements are necessary and present the improvements that are recommended based on engineering analysis according to best practices for infrastructure design and safety. The goal is to improve safety for users of the highway by removing unsafe median openings and stop sign-controlled accesses while balancing the need for residents to access their homes and local businesses.
