New - What We Heard Report

Over the last 10 to 15 years, declines in our moose population have resulted in Moose Conservation Closures being established in various parts of southern Manitoba. Some of the regional populations of moose have shown little or no growth since the closures were established. Other regional populations of moose are recovering, but at a slower rate than expected. We need to work together to prevent further declines, improve recovery rates, and maintain a sustainable moose population for future generations of Manitobans and to maintain a healthy ecological balance.

Our moose population are at an ecological tipping point in many parts of Manitoba’s southern, forested range. It will take a concerted effort by all who have an interest in moose to maintain a healthy moose population in Manitoba’s southern forests.
