Manitoba Trails Strategy - What We Heard Report (FR)
Help us create the Manitoba Trails Strategy and shape how we develop, maintain and support recreational trails across Manitoba.
The Manitoba Trails Strategy will guide the development and maintenance of a provincial trail network for recreational activities such as hiking, biking, snowmobiling and off-road vehicle riding. Trails may include motorized and non-motorized trails, as well as water routes, in both backcountry and frontcountry areas. Feedback from stakeholders, partner groups and the public will help to shape the strategy.
We want to better understand:
- how you use trails in Manitoba
- trail amenities that are important to you
- barriers that impact your trail use
- how to get people more involved with recreational trails
- ideas for trail building and maintenance

develop a standard rating for trail difficulty
include type of surface, remoteness of location, steepest grade, overall grade gain/loss, distance travelled, etc - when providing the overall trail grade include the scores for the individual standard components. Standard methodology for assessing allows users to assess more accurately their ability to tackle new trails based on previous experience. Planners and trail stakeholders can better assess if the overall trail inventory is weak in a particular ability range. Ratings may also help to identify where a trail can be effectively used for more than one type of activity. Ratings could indicate that a particular trail has features that make it more (or less) suitable for a particular method of transport or a particular season of the year; for example a winter use trail that crosses land, marsh and water is not suitable for travel once the melt has arrived

Improve and promote Great Trail to be more PCT/Appalachian trail-like...
Less routing over roads. weekly towns/supply stops/accommodations. Details on Stops/Camping/Water Supplies...

Access to information
Where to find contact information for the people in charge of areas/districts, facilities, trails, etc in order to get information or report a problem. Transparency where there are commercial interests. Improve online access to trail information, grooming status, and important updates. Hiking and canoe route information

Nopiming canoe route, manigotagan east
Create canoe route from nopiming trail East up the manigotagan to Gem and possibly to Slate lake. Potential parking lot already exists east side of the road and south of the river. Portage trails are there

Need better maps and signage
The maps provided now are terrible and don't help at all. The trail signage is also terrible
