Canada has identified 31 minerals as critical for promoting green energy and sustainable economic success. Manitoba has occurrences of 29 of the 31 critical minerals. Critical minerals are crucial for Manitoba’s growth as a low-carbon leader, and are essential to developing clean technologies, energy storage systems, electric vehicles and other technologies that advance net-zero targets.
Manitoba is developing a new critical minerals strategy to establish a secure supply chain and develop additional partnerships with mining companies and Indigenous communities.
The strategy will promote sustainable practices that minimize environmental impacts, enhance Indigenous participation, and support a clean, green energy transition.
We want to hear about the priorities of Manitobans as we plan the road ahead for critical minerals in our province.
This initial survey will form part of a multi-phased engagement approach that will help build the foundation for Manitoba’s Critical Minerals Strategy.
