The only thing good about this propsal is the one day fishing licence. Keep live bait
Keep the opener where it is now.
Make a licence pdf so you can just show you phone

Closing the first week and reducing Walleye limits for anglers is unnecessary and will accomplish very little! Angling catch rates are miniscule compared to commercial fishers. Addressing the ongoing illegal, commercial black market, that accounts for 50% of the market is the biggest issue by far!

As a scientist based on what I’ve reviewed the data in hand appears to be over-extrapolated onto the model. The opening date alterations will not likely achieve the intended results. I support leaving opening dates as they are and making it catch and release for the proposed period in question.

April 1st to 3rd week in May catch and release for walleye on red River and lake winnipeg

Or reduce limits from 4 to 2 walleye on river and lake winnipeg

Open catfishing from April 1st on the red River

Stop the commercial fishing till June 1st to allow walleye from River

senior 65+ travel all over Canada. No Canadian senior should have to pay to fish in any Province or territories in Canada, not just were they live. Also we need more consultation with recreational angling, commercial fisheries and First Nations before we Target only one group.

I think many of the proposed changes are very good however I believe permanent ice shelters should be done away with as many individuals park their shelters on known good locations and dominate the area cutting off angling opportunities for other anglers.

Just so you are aware, there there are a few people attacking this proposal through social media. They are misrepresenting what is actually in the proposal and they are only doing it for their own personal gain. Don't listen to them. Most of this package is good for Manitoba.

I believe Covid has killed the tourism and service industry. The new regulations closing Red catfish and walleye is wrong as 90% commercial 10% recreation walleye protection is not issue with commercial harvest. Make the first week and Red catch and release. Close commercial fishery for all of May

I agree with most of the new regulations but I do not feel the lose of the first week is needed. It is a disaster to the recreation fishing industry and restaurant and hotels. 6m fish are taken by commercial fishers only 10% is indigenous and recreation fishers closing the first week is wrong.

They need to leave the fishing regulations as they are. Easier access to licenses also would be great. Not everyone goes online or has access to a credit card.

This will not help fishing tourism. Tournament fishing also brings in a huge amount of money and tourism. We need live bait. We need all the jobs we can get.

Digital angler license I support 100%

I support conservation BUT not JUST for recreational anglers. This seems to target us over commercial fishing, that take far more out of our lakes then us little guys and gals.

It should be applied across the board.

If livebait is a significant enough concern for AIS control that its being eliminated why is it being phased out over FIVE YEARS? If it is such a risk factor then end it immediately and fairly compensate the licenced producers. Instead the five year window misses the mark.No control. No Compensation

In regards to the Lake Winnipeg fishery it seems the 90/10 rule applies. 90% of people are taking 10% of the catch, and yet that same 10% of catch is responsible for 90% of provincial fish related revenue. Let's crush THAT 10%. Makes no sense.

By decreasing the limit from 6 to 4, you will already reduce recreational harvest by 33% in the first week of the season - why eliminate the week???? If you are further concerned about harvest simply limit the harvest! Don't lose one of the best weeks that can be fished without harm to the fish.

digital license is all we need why must be always be last when it comes to procedures for stuff like this

The whole idea about this "strategy" is absolutely preposterous! You need actual people in the fishing community on this, not university students, politicians or a random person making these decisions. This should be discussed and advised by actual anglers who have knowledge and understanding.

As a nonresident, I speak only from the point of view of coming up to fish for catfish on the Red River from Lockport to the north. I can’t believe that a total fish closure is in any way a reasonable approach to any management targets. If that closes, the likelihood of us coming to stay is zero.

Thank god I live in Saskatchewan.. we have a saying here.. If you wanna see what that past was like 10 years ago visit Manitoba there that far behind the rest of the country. Those that lad a in this proposal have poor thought process. No vision.. please delay and consult more with the public.
