The mandate letter for the Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, the Honourable Glen Simard, includes an obligation to improve access to services in French in multiple sectors so that Manitoba is a truly bilingual province. On March 20, 2025, Minister Simard announced that he wanted to undertake a board consultation with Manitobans to guide the creation of a long-term strategy on bilingualism. This survey is the first step in that work.
There will also be targeted consultations over the next six months. People who wish to participate in them or those who want to provide more detailed written remarks and suggestions can send documents or messages by email to bilingualmanitobabilingue@gov.mb.ca.
