Regulatory Accountability Act Review

The Regulatory Accountability Act was developed for the purpose of reducing red tape and enhancing regulatory accountability in government. Reducing red tape for stakeholders strengthens the provincial economy, improves services for Manitobans and helps decrease costs for stakeholders and government.

Five years after the act has come into effect, a comprehensive review is now required, which includes an opportunity for public representation. Engaging with the public and stakeholders is crucial for gathering input in policy development and in promoting greater openness, trust and transparency.

The Quality Management & Research Unit of Manitoba Justice has been assigned to review responses and provide recommendations.

The review will focus on the seven principles defined in the act, which include:

  1. Achieving balance
  2. Identifying the best option
  3. Assessing the impact
  4. Consulting and communicating with stakeholders and the public
  5. Evaluating effectiveness and efficiency
  6. Monitoring and minimizing the number of regulatory requirements, and
  7. Streamlining design

We invite you to submit your feedback through survey and/or an open proposal process before December 19th.

Submissions will also be accepted by email at QMRU@gov.mb.ca.
