Food Safety Regulations Modernization

Consultation has concluded

NEW! What We Heard Report

Please review the information provided in the following links below which describes the proposed sections for the Modernized Food Safety Regulations:

Most of the requirements we are considering follow an outcome-based regulatory approach. Outcome-based regulatory requirements:

  • Specify the desired result that a regulation intends to achieve, rather than describing a specific process or action that must be followed to achieve compliance.
  • Allow industry to be innovative and respond quickly to emerging trends.
  • Provide flexibility to introduce new technologies, processes and procedures. In following an outcome-based regulatory approach, regulated parties can apply cost effective, scientific and technological measures that best achieve a given regulatory outcome, while maintaining or enhancing food safety.

After reviewing the documents, please answer the following questions about the requirements being considered. There is also a section about the next Federal-Provincial-Territorial Agricultural Policy Framework (NPF) with questions applicable to Food Processors and Abattoirs. Your answers will provide information on what program approaches could be helpful for your business to adapt to food safety regulatory changes.

Thank you for participating in this survey, your feedback is very important to us. It should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
