On March 15, 2021, the Manitoba government announced changes to the Kindergarten to grade 12 education system in Manitoba. The changes have been developed in response to the recommendations of the Commission on Kindergarten to Grade 12 Education, as well as learnings from the COVID-19 pandemic.
A modern K to 12 system that puts students first is a priority. Currently Manitoba spends the most per student in Canada yet our students are at or near the bottom of national and international rankings. Manitoba has the highest number of school divisions and trustees, per capita, resulting in vastly different standards and resources for students and parents across the province.
Working together, we have an opportunity to improve performance and get better outcomes for all our children by shifting these resources to the classroom and investing in schools.
We want to hear the perspectives of Manitobans about your experiences with the public education system and shaping and strengthen engagement and involvement in the future system. Your input will be used to help inform a modern Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system.
This information is available in an alternate format upon request. Please contact edutransformation@gov.mb.ca.
