first of all lodges and outfitters do not suffer a loss of business because of limits or size restrictions, if a person is here for 5 days they may catch 4 fish a day and eat them and go out and do the same for the duration of their trip then take 4 home a pretty good deal for a 20 dollar licence

A good step in the right direction!

If your cutting the walleye limit to 4 fish then I surely hope ALL walleye limits are also being cut by 30% meaning commercial quotas and harvester limits as well. 4 fish doesn't even feed a family for 1 meal. Its the black market that's killing the resource.

It is good to see some new initiatives by government. I like most of these proposals. Reducing the limit of Walleye from 6 to 4 seems like a reasonable trade-off for the ‘one over’ issue. Instead ‘one over 55cm - none over 70 cm’ How about limit of 4 - one over 55cm - none over 60cm?

I just completed the survey and can't believe how poor it is. These questions are far too generic and I can't imagine that you will obtain any meaningful data from it. I live on water that is not yet impacted by zebra mussels - glad to see steps to reduce the spread. More needs to be done.

I really hope there is a tournament exception for smallmouth bass! It would be awesome to have tournaments like Ontario with your 5 biggest because it would make for some awesome bags of fish!

We really need to put alot of money into enforcement and ticketing, and expand the laws to make penalties stricter for any caught above limit, out of season, and fishing where they arent allowed to.

Changing the walleye slot in northern manitoba would be a huge mistake. Ever since the slot of not keeping a walleye over 55cm came into place there has been a huge positive impact on the region. The amount a healthy spawning walleye has greatly increased this is important as the growth rate isslow

Some of these proposals make sense i.e. open season for pike all year. Stricter controls on the harvesting of walleye is also a good idea, however allowing the retention of larger fish is a bad idea. Is there actual proof that the transport of live bait is related to invasive species?

No one should be keeping walleyes over 55cm or pike over 30 inch. Keep fall trout fishing open. Review closures every year and decide if the are needed .

Enforce heavily on the commercial fishermen because they are stealing from the rest of us

I would like someone to explain how in every other type of reproductive species they younger population is the breeding stock but in fish the older and bigger they are is the breeding stock. I think commercial fishing should be regulated more. Maybe stricter rules for Winnipeg sewage dumping.

Grand Rapids for example it cannot with stain the pressure. We can use dead fish from a net for something other than feeding seagulls. Waste will be the end of our fantastic resource

I totally agree we need to do something but I think there are areas to address immediately. No limit or 50 lbs of fillets per person will kill any area in no time. Everyone enjoys a fish fry but do we need to over fish. There is lots of wast and illegal sales of fish Start with the problem

I thought we were trying to sustain and grow our fisheries? Please do not change it so people can take home bigger fish! You will ruin the fisheries and decrease the amount of people who will eventually come (especially to the north) to catch large fish as they will be few and far in-between.

We have a beautiful resource which needs protecting. Too many illegal outfitters and cabin renters out there who do not pay resource fees.

Licenses should be valid for 3 years and have a card. Seniors should be exempt from this requirement to apply every year. The current system of licensing is difficult to navigate. Issues with non outfitters that take out Americans. Many illegal outfitters.

I also think that some of these implementations should still be region specific, as our northern fisheries may be hit hardest by some of the proposals. If we are to open certain species for year-round targeting it would be nice to see lower limits for them as well - 25 Perch is a little excessive

I like the overall proposals being debated in the strategy, although I do believe there is still room for improvement. Would love to see more protection for larger fish (ex: no keepers of Crappie over 12"; Walleye over 55cm) and open dialogue regarding the use of live bait if sourced from same BOW.

Please do not allow 55cm Walleye and one larger to be taken out of our Provincial Parks like the Whiteshell. Over harvesting already is having it's effects and this will only decimate the fish stocks more so.
