Phase 3 - What We Heard Report
Phase 2 - What We Heard Report
Phase 1 - What We Heard Report

In January 2022, the Government of Manitoba announced the creation of the department of Seniors and Long-Term Care. A key focus of this new department is to lead the development and implementation of a provincial seniors strategy. Through this strategy, the Government of Manitoba aims to make the province an ideal place to age and ensure that:

  • Seniors can live a healthy and active life, safely and independently and in their own homes and community for as long as possible.
  • Support and resources are available for the transitions between living settings; from living independently in their own home and community to living in another setting.
  • Quality, dependable and affordable supports are available when independent living is no longer possible.

This information is available in an alternate format upon request. If you have any questions about the survey, development of the strategy or would like to request this information in an alternate format please contact SeniorsMB@gov.mb.ca.

Older Manitobans make up a large portion of the province’s population and their needs for services and supports are as diverse as the people living in communities in every part of our province.

The Manitoba government established the department of Seniors and Long Term Care with many goals, including setting new priorities that will improve the quality of life of all older Manitobans.

From finding new ways to ensure older Manitobans can live in their own homes and communities for as long as they wish, to improving access to services and supports, to helping Manitobans maintain active and healthy lifestyles, we need your perspectives on how all this can be made possible.

Sharing your thoughts and experiences will help to inform an plan for older Manitobans. This consultation process includes you, people you love and support, people you work with, and seniors living in every community.

Thank you for participating in this opportunity to gather vital community feedback.

Older Manitobans have spent their lives helping to build our great province. They’ve created businesses, raised families, served their communities as volunteers, and now, there’s many choices that lie ahead for their futures.

We know this matters to you because every day, you know and work with seniors. You support them and advocate for them to live their best lives.

This survey marks the beginning of an extensive public engagement process to help inform the policy and direction of a future plan for older Manitobans.

Thank you for sharing your time and thoughts on the experiences and hopes of older Manitobans. Your input will be used to help make it possible for seniors to live independently in their own homes for as long as they choose.

Your participation will help to ensure a diverse, inclusive, and informed consultation process that is integral to the shaping and executing of the plan.
